NFL announces historic first for Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show

The NFL is leveling up its Super Bowl 2026 entertainment with a stacked cast of Grammy-nominated artists and a first of its kind multilingual signing program that will set the tone for Bad Bunny’s historic halftime show performance.

Singer-songwriter and producer Charlie Puth is scheduled to sing the national anthem, folk rock artist Brandi Carlile will perform “America the Beautiful” and R&B star Coco Jones is set to deliver the Black national anthem “Lift Every Voice and Sing” for the big game at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara on Feb. 8.

“(W)e’re proud to spotlight artists who embody the very best of music and culture,” said Jon Barker, senior vice president of global event production for the NFL, in a statement after the news was announced mid-game during the Denver Broncos and Washington Commanders’ face off on Sunday, Nov. 30. “These artists bring a distinct voice to the moment, helping set the tone for a day that will captivate fans around the world.”

The league also revealed the American Sign Language song signers who will be interpreting the 2026 Super Bowl performances. Fred Beam will take on the national anthem and “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” while Julian Ortiz will translate “America the Beautiful.”

These performances will precede Bad Bunny’s highly anticipated halftime set, which is expected to feature a multilingual signing program incorporating Puerto Rican Sign Language for the first time. The effort will be led by deaf Puerto Rican performer Celimar Rivera Cosme.

All signed performances for the Super Bowl pregame lineup and halftime show are collaborations with Alexis Kashar of Love Sign and Howard Rosenblum of Deaf Equality.

“This moment embodies the very best of culture, live performance, and our country, perfectly kicking off game day,” Desiree Perez, CEO of Roc Nation, said in a statement.

Bad Bunny’s forthcoming performance has drawn complaints from President Donald Trump and his supporters, who have criticized the award-winning artist’s Spanish-language music and political stances on immigration, LGBTQ+ rights and the current administration.

Nonetheless, the NFL has doubled down on its support for the reggaeton star, who also seems unfazed by the controversy.

The Super Bowl Halftime Show is produced by Diversified Production Services, with Roc Nation and Jesse Collins as executive producers.

Leading up to his Super Bowl performance, the Bay Area will transform into an entertainment hub, with a lineup of fan events, activations and concerts — featuring artists such as Sting, the Killers and Oakland native Kehlani — taking over venues in San Francisco and the South Bay.
